SHARJAH: H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, officially inaugurated the Sharjah Falconers Club in Al Burair on Saturday. The new facility aims to preserve the heritage of falconry while embracing modern training and healthcare advancements.

H.H. unveiled the memorial plaque, marking the club’s grand opening, and toured its state-of-the-art facilities, including a lecture hall, a falconers’ library, a training centre for drone simulation, and a specialised exhibition showcasing advanced falconry tools. He also engaged with students participating in training programmes, where cutting-edge simulation systems help them master the sport.

During discussions with the club’s leadership, H.H. reviewed expansion plans and was briefed on efforts to excel in local and international championships. A key highlight was a presentation on the Sharjah Bird Breeding Centre project, which will enhance falcon breeding, ensuring better care and accessibility for enthusiasts. H.H. approved this initiative in collaboration with the University of Al Dhaid.

The Ruler also designated the club’s surrounding area as a protected zone, creating a safe space for training and falconry activities. He then visited the Sharjah Falconers Club Clinic, the largest in the Arabian Gulf, featuring a high-tech laboratory, operating rooms, a CT scan facility, and a sports equipment centre.

At Al Muqayd Falcon Shelter, H.H. inspected facilities designed to house 500 birds, equipped with air purification, temperature control, and special conditions for Siberian species. Finally, he honoured championship-winning falconers, presenting them with the Distinguished Falconer Shield.

The Sharjah Falconers Club stands as a cultural landmark, ensuring falconry’s legacy endures while supporting modern conservation and training practices.
