SHARJAH: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has launched key projects to upgrade electricity networks in the central region, with an investment of AED 20,409,404 during the year’s first half.

These upgrades include the installation of 97.740 km of high-voltage cables and 5.540 km of low-voltage cables, along with the removal of 35 km of overhead lines. This initiative is part of SEWA’s ongoing efforts to enhance network stability and service efficiency.

Khalifa Mohammed Al Tunaiji, Director of the Central Region Department, stated that these developments align with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. The projects aim to deliver world-class electricity services across commercial, industrial, agricultural, residential, and governmental sectors in Sharjah.

A significant focus is the replacement of overhead lines with underground cables, which improves network resilience and ensures uninterrupted power delivery. This comprehensive initiative reflects SEWA’s commitment to sustainable and reliable energy services throughout the emirate.

The authority continues to implement these projects as part of its strategy to meet growing energy demands while prioritising sustainability and innovation. By modernising infrastructure and addressing the unique needs of the central region, SEWA supports the emirate’s broader vision for enhanced living standards and economic growth.

These upgrades are crucial in promoting service stability across all sectors and preparing the region for future energy requirements. SEWA’s proactive approach reinforces its dedication to offering reliable, high-quality services that cater to the emirate’s dynamic and diverse needs.
