ABU DHABI: Sandooq Al Watan’s third summer programmes are set to launch tomorrow, running until 31 July, with an expected participation of 50,000 school and university students from across the emirates. The release made by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of Sandooq Al Watan, highlights the scale and ambition of this year’s initiative.

Activities will take place across 54 venues, including government and private schools, youth and cultural centres. Designed to strengthen national identity among young Emiratis, the programmes embody the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan by fostering pride in the Arabic language, heritage, and shared values.

The summer programme offers an eclectic mix of sports, artistic, cultural, and knowledge-based activities. In a first for 2025, over 30 theatrical performances, developed by UAE creatives and artists, will feature alongside Arabic calligraphy workshops, storytelling sessions, creative games, and daily competitions with instant prizes.

Yasser Al Gargawi, Director General of Sandooq Al Watan, explained that the programmes are tailored to three age groups—8 to 10, 11 to 13, and 14 to 16—each focusing on age-appropriate content: physical activities and storytelling for the youngest group, interactive discussions for the middle group, and small projects and volunteer activities for the older participants.

The overarching aim is to nurture future generations with a firm sense of belonging, loyalty, and a strong national identity shaped by Islamic heritage and Emirati culture.

Summary: The programmes target age group students aged 8–16, divided into three main categories:

Group 1: Ages 8–10 (focus on physical activities and short stories)
Group 2: Ages 11–13 (focus on interactive discussions and simple analysis)
Group 3: Ages 14–16 (focus on small projects and volunteer initiatives)
