ABU DHABI: Public school students in the UAE will transition to remote learning on Fridays during Ramadan under the ‘Ramadan with Family’ initiative, announced by the Ministry of Education. This move aims to promote family unity and reinforce Ramadan values, allowing students to engage in meaningful activities with their families while continuing their education.
The initiative aligns with the UAE leadership’s vision to create a supportive and spiritually enriching environment during the holy month. It encourages students to strengthen family bonds, embrace Ramadan traditions, and develop key life skills in a setting that fosters reflection and togetherness.
While the shift applies to most students, those scheduled for exams on Fridays will attend in-person as per their approved timetables. Teaching staff will continue working from school, ensuring educational continuity for students whose parents prefer them to attend in person. However, families opting for in-school attendance must arrange private transportation.
To facilitate a smooth transition, the Ministry has developed a guidance manual for students and parents participating in remote learning. The manual provides structured educational and cultural activities aligned with Ramadan’s core principles, ensuring students continue their academic and moral development from home.
The ‘Ramadan with Family’ initiative reflects the UAE’s ongoing efforts to foster social harmony and support family cohesion while ensuring a balanced approach to education. With shorter school hours and flexible learning during Ramadan, students can engage in spiritual practices, community service, and personal reflection, making the most of the holy month.
