DUBAI: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recently met with Makoto Uchida, President and CEO of Nissan Motor Corporation.
The meeting, part of His Highness’s Weekly Majlis at the Union House, focused on exploring new growth opportunities for automotive companies in light of the UAE’s ambitious development plans. His Highness expressed the UAE’s eagerness to forge strong partnerships with global automotive leaders to enhance its position as a key player in the international automotive market, leveraging its status as a major commercial and investment hub.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that these partnerships align with Dubai’s strategic goals, including the development of the ‘Dubai Car Market,’ the world’s largest and most advanced car market, which aims to connect with 77 ports globally. This initiative is part of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to establish Dubai as one of the top three global urban economies by 2033.
The discussions also touched on how the UAE’s exceptional logistics and global trading connectivity make it an ideal base for automotive companies like Nissan to expand their market presence. Nissan’s recent unveiling of its new Patrol model from the UAE underscores the country’s importance in the company’s global strategy.

Nissan, a pioneer in zero-emission vehicles, employs around 250,000 people worldwide, operates in 20 countries, and achieved significant financial growth in 2023, with an operating profit of 568.7 billion yen and global sales of 3.44 million units.
