DUBAI: The Mohammed bin Rashid Library (MBRL) has donated 5,000 books in Arabic and English to national service recruits in the armed forces. This initiative, part of the A World Reads programme, aims to instil a culture of reading and lifelong learning, coinciding with the UAE’s Reading Month.
Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrooei, Board Member of the MBRL Foundation, highlighted the library’s commitment to fostering intellectual development among young recruits. “Encouraging reading among our armed forces enhances their knowledge and leadership skills, preparing them to contribute effectively to the nation’s future,” he said.
Since its launch in April 2023, A World Reads has benefited 250,000 individuals, with MBRL donating 80,000 books to over 200 institutions and schools. The library continues to invite publishers and cultural organisations to contribute to this initiative, further expanding access to knowledge.
This latest contribution underscores MBRL’s dedication to enriching minds and strengthening the UAE’s knowledge-based society. By equipping young recruits with valuable resources, the initiative plays a vital role in shaping a well-informed and future-ready generation.
