ABU DHABI: The Make-A-Wish Foundation celebrated a historic milestone in 2024, granting 830 wishes to children with critical illnesses. Surpassing its target by 16%, the achievement highlights the Foundation’s relentless dedication to spreading hope and joy among children and their families.
Sheikha Sheikha bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, remarked, “2024 has showcased the power of unity and hope. Every granted wish brought resilience and joy, not only to the children but to everyone involved.” She attributed this success to the unwavering efforts of donors, volunteers, and the Foundation’s team.
The year saw an expanded reach across three countries. In the UAE, 461 wishes were fulfilled, reflecting the nation’s spirit of generosity. In Jordan, 160 children at the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center experienced moments of happiness. Meanwhile, in Egypt, the Foundation granted 102 wishes at the Magdi Yacoub Foundation in Aswan and 107 at Abu El-Rish Japanese Hospital in Cairo.
The total of 830 wishes represents a remarkable leap from the 712 wishes granted in 2023, underscoring the Foundation’s continuous growth. Sheikha Sheikha added, “Our mission to create joy-filled moments for children remains boundless. As we look ahead to 2025, we are determined to extend our efforts locally and internationally, ensuring every child in need feels the magic of a granted wish.”
This exceptional achievement reflects the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s vision of making the impossible possible for children, lighting up lives and fostering hope year after year.
