DUBAI: Dubai Police has been honoured with three distinguished awards at the 2024 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Awards, held during the organisation’s annual conference in the United States. These accolades underscore the force’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and global leadership in law enforcement.
International Recognition
Major General Dr Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidli, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Excellence and Pioneering, praised the achievement, stating: “These awards affirm our dedication to adopting advanced technologies and pioneering solutions, ensuring world-class security services.”
Awards and Achievements
Dubai Police secured recognition in three key categories:
1. 40 Under 40 Award
Major Abdullah Al Shehhi, Director of the Cybercrime Investigation Department, was acknowledged for his exemplary contributions to combatting cybercrime. His work includes leading high-profile cases, leveraging advanced technologies, and promoting international collaboration in cybercrime prevention.
2. IACP/SIA Michael Shanahan Leadership in Public/Private Cooperation Award
The “On-the-Go” initiative earned this award for its innovative approach to community policing. By collaborating with fuel service providers, the initiative offers seven key services, such as minor accident reporting, lost and found assistance, and cybercrime reporting, accessible without visiting police stations.
3. Leadership in Volunteer Police Service Programs Award
Dubai Police’s Volunteer Platform, led by Ms Fatima Buhjair, was celebrated for its impact, recording over 1.25 million volunteer hours. It promotes tolerance, dialogue, and youth education through cultural and sports initiatives.
Visionary Leadership
Major General Al Obaidli credited these achievements to the guidance of Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. He reiterated the force’s focus on integrating global best practices and advanced solutions to enhance public safety and foster community engagement.
