National Library and Archives hosts ‘Knowledge Circle’ at Litfest

Abu Dhabi: The National Library and Archives (NLA), together with the Emirates Literature Foundation, hosted a special edition of the “Knowledge Circle” seminar at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.

The sixth edition of the series delved into the paradoxes and transformations that have shaped our landscape over time, offering a deeply engaging experience.

Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director-General of NLA, spoke on behalf of Dr. Husniya Al Ali, Educational Programs Consultant at NLA. He highlighted the session’s theme of exploring diverse cultures through travel writing, enriching the Knowledge Circle with fresh perspectives. Al Ali emphasized NLA’s commitment to enriching the knowledge society and preserving cultural heritage.

Al Ali also praised travel writer Alex Bescoby’s work, which recreates one of history’s greatest road journeys. He noted how such stories captivate audiences and contribute to cultural development.

The partnership between NLA and Emirates Literature Foundation aims to nurture knowledge-based societies. Moving the program to Dubai allows for a more diverse audience, reflecting NLA’s mission to preserve the UAE’s documentary record.

Dr. Husniya Al Ali welcomed attendees and encouraged participation in NLA’s ongoing Knowledge Circle series and other cultural events.

The session featured the work of travel writer Alex Bescoby, documenting journeys and showcasing how places and life have changed over time. This added a new dimension to the Knowledge Circle series, capturing ongoing shifts in an exciting and dynamic way.

The Knowledge Circle program, starting in September and continuing throughout 2024, addresses crucial topics related to archives and literature development. It offers a chance for the public to visit NLA and other cultural centers, learning about the rich past, present, and future of the Emirates.
