ABU DHABI: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Global Food Week 2024 commenced today at ADNEC Abu Dhabi, running until November 28. This pivotal event highlights Abu Dhabi’s role in addressing global food security challenges and fostering international collaboration.
The week’s agenda includes four major events: the Global Food Security Summit, Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition, Abu Dhabi Date Palm Exhibition, and the Abu Dhabi Coffee Festival.
The summit, inaugurated by Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, features discussions led by 21 ministers and over 80 experts. Key topics include climate-smart agriculture, agri-tech, and supply chain resilience to build sustainable food systems. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, announced over 30 upcoming initiatives focusing on R&D and value chain integration, developed in partnership with private and academic sectors.
The Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition showcases innovations from over 660 exhibitors across 70+ countries, spotlighting sustainable production, health-centric systems, and evolving consumer trends.
The Abu Dhabi Coffee Festival, the first in the region, offers workshops, live competitions, and an engaging “Coffee Market” showcasing coffee-inspired products, celebrating the UAE’s growing coffee culture.
Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi Date Palm Exhibition gathers producers from 20 countries to explore sustainable farming advancements. The Hosted Buyer Programme connects suppliers with buyers from key sectors like aviation and hospitality.
On the sidelines, the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council launched the “Nutrition Label” initiative, aiding consumers in healthier food choices.
