DUBAI: The Dubai Charity Association, is now receiving donations in cryptocurrencies, through a partnership with a cryptocurrency platform.

Under the partnership, the platform will receive donations in cryptocurrencies and then transfers them to the association’s bank account in the local currency.

Khalid Al Olama, Secretary-General of the Association, said receiving donations in cryptocurrencies is unprecedented in charity work in the UAE, and will help attract donations that will benefit those in need. Dubai Charity Association donations cryptocurrency

Adel Mattar, Board Member at the Association, commended the association’s cooperation with Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, which is supporting the process for receiving donations in cryptocurrencies.

The next 50 years will see promising opportunities for advancing charity and humanitarian work, he added.

Dubai Charity Association began operations as a charitable and humanitarian services organization under the name Al Arwa Al Wathqa in 1980. After recognizing the need and reevaluating the opportunities, the founders renamed it as Dubai Charity Association, incorporated in Dubai under the Ministerial Decision No. 85 in the year 1994 issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs after undergoing all the relevant formalities.
