Cricket and movie star to grace audiences in the last leg of the Sharjah International Book Fair

Sharjah: SIBF 2022 will be hosting two of the most followed celebrities, giants from their respective industries, and both hugely revered for their skills at its 41st edition. It is no mean deal to have both, the undisputed Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, and the Rawalpindi Express, the world record holder for the fastest delivery, Shoaib Akhtar grace the same Event.

While Shah Rukh Khan will be conferred the 1st SIBF Global Icon of Cinema and Cultural Narrative Award. Shoaib Akhtar will be gracing the Book Fair where he will talk about his book, ‘Controversially Yours’, about the roller-coaster of a life he has had, his love not only for cricket as we all know but also for Urdu, music, poetry and other finer aspects which not many are aware of.

For the unnerved Shoaib Akhtar has been a part of IPL initially, where he played for Shah Rukh Khan’s franchise Kolkata Knight Riders and had a successful stint there too!

Shah Rukh Khan is set to participate in the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair on Friday, Nov 11, 2022.

For the Bollywood star, whose fandom spreads across views in Europe, the Middle East, and The Americas apart from India, his presence at the Sharjah Book Fair marks the first conferment of the SIBF global icon of cinema and cultural narrative.

The award is SIBF’s initiative to recognize and honour individuals whose efforts in their careers have helped transcend cultural barriers and whose contributions to the arts have created cultural ties between varying identities.

The multifaceted actor, producer and businessman, SRK or King Khan – as he is popularly known – has appeared in more than 80 films over a three-decade-long career and enjoys a fan following that cuts across ages and races.

The versatile actor is best known for his romantic roles in blockbuster hits including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Devdas, and My Name is Khan, amongst a host of other record-breaking hits.

After Shahrukh Khan, the cricket star Shoaib Akhtar will appear in SIBF on the 13th of November at 6.30 PM. Shoaib Akhtar will talk about his life journey from his birth in a very modest family in a village in Pakistan to becoming the fastest and most feared bowler in the world. Apart from cricket, the ace ex-pacer will also speak about his love for books, literature, poetry and music. The author of ‘Controversially Yours’, will also throw some light on this bestseller penned by him and what made him come up with the book.

Bazm-e-Urdu member and a familiar face in Urdu literary circles Tarannum Ahmed will be in conversation with Shoaib Akhtar. This segment will also comprise a 13th-century art form ‘Dastangoi’ where renowned dastango from India Syed Sahil Agha will present ‘Dastan-e-Shoaib Akhtar’ entailing interesting details and anecdotes from Shoaib’s life in form of a story.

Bazm-e-Urdu’s Mehfil-e-Urdu will also have a book launch ceremony which will be graced by the renowned veteran actor from Bollywood Mr. Raza Murad, who will also address the audience in his most inimitable style.
