China’s first LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort opens with interactive rides, LEGO experiences, and cultural charm for families across eight themed zones.

Shanghai: On 5 July 2025, the highly anticipated LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort officially opened its gates, inviting families into a vibrant realm of imagination, creativity, and cultural celebration. Located in Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, this landmark destination is the first LEGOLAND Resort in China and the largest of its kind globally at the time of opening.

Covering 318,000 square metres, the resort features eight themed lands packed with over 75 interactive rides, attractions, and live shows. More than 85 million LEGO bricks were used to create intricate models, brought to life by 10,000 workers and 300 teams from 15 countries.

The grand opening was marked by colourful festivities, including music, dancing, and appearances from LEGOLAND favourites Mike and Amy. Representatives from Merlin Entertainments, the LEGO Group, and Shanghai authorities joined families and Kid Reporters to celebrate the momentous occasion.

LEGOLAND Shanghai’s “Grand Opening Week” from 5–13 July transforms the park into a festive wonderland with exclusive activities, limited-time minifigure swaps, daily character interactions, and themed merchandise. The LEGO Plaza buzzes with daily welcome shows and immersive experiences that engage visitors of all ages.

Fiona Eastwood, CEO of Merlin Entertainments, noted, “LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort reflects our ambition to be a global leader in branded entertainment destinations. It blends proven LEGOLAND success with rich Chinese culture, offering a globally recognisable yet locally resonant experience.”

Unique attractions include the LEGO Monkie Kid live show premiere, a world-first water-town boat tour featuring scaled LEGO models of Chinese and Shanghai landmarks, and LEGOLAND Creative World showcasing the world’s largest LEGO minifigure. From thrilling rides in LEGO NINJAGO land to creative challenges in LEGO Friends and LEGO Castle zones, every corner is designed for families to build joyful memories.

Six themed restaurants, ice-cream carts, and ten retail outlets—like Asia’s largest “BIG Shop”—offer food, fun, and exclusive LEGO products. Guests can extend their visit at the LEGOLAND Hotel, complete with themed rooms and nightly entertainment.

Launching alongside the 36th Shanghai Tourism Festival, LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort becomes a premier destination for domestic and international tourists, where families build dreams—brick by brick.
