As soon as the Champions Trophy final ticket sale started on the official website at 10 pm on Tuesday, all the tickets were sold out in just 40 minutes. After the thrilling match between India and Australia on Tuesday, Indian cricket fans were eagerly waiting to see the Indian team play another thrilling match in the final of the Champions Trophy and as per the announcement, they had started booking the tickets for the final immediately after the match.

Looking at the sale of tickets for the India-Pakistan match, people were assuming that the tickets for the final would also be sold out quickly. Avinash Yadav says that when I tried at 10:07, my number was 118102 in the queue of those who wanted to buy tickets and by the time I reached the ticket portal, all the tickets were showing sold out. This included the Sky Box category tickets worth 12,000 dirhams.

Rizwan Ahmed, who came out after watching the semi-final, says that I stayed outside the stadium after the match to buy the tickets so that I don’t get late due to driving, but maybe this time the tickets for the final were not in my destiny. My waiting list was 125478 and when my turn came after about 50 minutes, all categories of tickets were sold out. Now I hope ICC opens its ticket window once again like for the India-Pakistan match, I am praying to get a ticket at that time.

Since Wednesday morning, tickets for the Champions Trophy final in Dubai have been resold at more than 1,000% higher prices; some tickets are listed at 97,000 dirhams.

On a ticket resale website called ticombo.com, Platinum category tickets are available for 6600 dirhams and Grand Lounge tickets for 11000 dirhams.

Some websites, like xchangetickets.com, listed general admission tickets for 250 dirhams at 3,000 dirhams, a 1200 percent increase. Most of those tickets are also showing sold out.

Viagogo listed these tickets for 97,746 dirhams, a whopping 714 per cent higher than the starting price. According to the website, these were being viewed by thousands, and were among the ‘last tickets on the site’.

Despite the high prices, cricket fans determined to watch the final snapped up as many tickets as they could get their hands on, with websites displaying reminders that there were only two or four tickets left in each category.
