CAIRO: Arab League condemned the Iranian attack on Qatar, calling it a serious breach of sovereignty and a dangerous provocation in an already tense region. Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed full solidarity with Qatar after Iran violated its airspace, saying the act was “unacceptable and condemned.”
In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Aboul Gheit reaffirmed that no country should tolerate such an infringement. He emphasised that the Arab League stood firmly by Qatar and regarded the incident as a threat to regional peace and international law.
Aboul Gheit also warned about the risks of further escalation and urged all involved parties to act responsibly. He expressed hope that the confrontation would be fully contained as soon as possible and not spiral into a wider regional conflict.
The Arab League stressed the importance of restraint and diplomacy in resolving disputes and preventing future violations. It reiterated its commitment to protecting the sovereignty of its member states and maintaining peace across the Middle East.
The Arab League condemned Iran’s actions during a time of mounting tensions in the Gulf. This statement came amid increasing international concern over the potential for further military or political escalation in the region.
By joining international voices calling for calm, the Arab League aimed to de-escalate the situation and support diplomatic solutions. Observers noted the importance of such statements in pressuring involved nations to pursue dialogue over aggression.
