SHARJAH: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated Bait Elowal, a unique cultural and culinary destination in the Heart of Sharjah, on Wednesday.
With a vision by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Bait Elowal is a living tribute to Sharjah’s legacy as a historic commercial hub where flavours, stories, and traditions blend seamlessly. The name translates to “The House of the Returner,” symbolising travellers bringing back experiences, tastes, and crafts from distant lands.
During his tour, the Ruler of Sharjah explored the historic two-story heritage house, which dates back over a century. Overlooking Sharjah Creek, Bait Elowal preserves its original Emirati architecture, featuring thick walls, intricately carved doors, and a picturesque courtyard with a Moroccan-tiled fountain.
The ground-floor restaurant serves a menu inspired by the Silk Road, highlighting Moroccan, Persian, Indian, and Turkish flavours. Visitors can also explore Soghat Elowal, a boutique featuring handcrafted Emirati embroidery, Moroccan homeware, and Palestinian textiles.
The tour continued to Al Kutubkhana, a book haven with Arabic and English literature, followed by Al Atlas, an exclusive dining space offering chef-led experiences and curated menus. The visit concluded at Al Marmas, a tranquil tea terrace inspired by traditional Emirati storytelling, where guests can enjoy Silk Road-infused teas with scenic port views.
Sheikha Bodour stated, “Bait Elowal is more than a restaurant; it is an experience that celebrates Emirati heritage and the spirit of exploration.”
