Dubai: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced that the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit will be hosted by IndiGo in Delhi, India, from June 8-10, 2025.

Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director-General, expressed anticipation for the event, highlighting India’s remarkable progress in the aviation sector. He emphasized India’s potential to become the world’s third-largest aviation market by the end of the decade, citing record aircraft orders, substantial growth, and significant infrastructure advancements. Walsh underscored the importance of witnessing India’s aviation evolution firsthand, given its promising outlook.

Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, echoed Walsh’s sentiments, noting India’s economic ascent and leadership in the fourth industrial revolution. He emphasized IndiGo’s role in facilitating India’s aviation growth since its inception in 2006, including its expanding international presence. Elbers emphasized the importance of constructive dialogues during the AGM, focusing on safety, diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability while meeting the escalating global demand for air travel.

The decision for IndiGo to host the 81st IATA AGM in India was made during the 80th IATA AGM in Dubai. This marks the third occasion that Delhi will host the prestigious event, following previous meetings in 1958 and 1983. With India’s dynamic aviation landscape and IndiGo’s commitment to fostering positive change in the industry, the 2025 AGM promises to be a significant gathering for the global aviation community.
