DUBAI: Emirates is experiencing a busy period for its Unaccompanied Minors Service as many children return to Dubai from summer vacations to start the school year. This week alone, Emirates will assist over 900 children flying alone with their family-friendly service.

Over the past five years, more than 120,000 children have used Emirates’ Unaccompanied Minors and Young Passenger services. Most of these children are aged 11 or younger. The service is popular among families from the UK, India, the US, the Philippines, and France. Emirates ensures a safe and enjoyable journey for children aged 5 to 11, from check-in to their destination.

The service includes access to the Unaccompanied Minors Lounge at Dubai International Airport (DXB), where children can relax with video games, Wi-Fi, and snacks. Parents must provide identification and sign a permission form when dropping off their child. A trained Emirates specialist will guide the child through the airport, from check-in to boarding, and ensure they are settled and introduced to the cabin crew.

Onboard, children can enjoy free Wi-Fi, toys, video games, and a wide range of children’s content on Emirates’ inflight entertainment system. For birthdays, parents can arrange a special cake and celebration. Upon arrival, Emirates staff will ensure the child is handed over safely to their guardian.

For older children aged 12 to 15, Emirates offers the Unaccompanied Minors Service for an additional fee of $50 per leg of the journey if extra support is needed. For connecting flights, children can only have a maximum connection time of 8 hours, with any longer connections requiring approval. The service can be booked up to 12 hours before departure through Emirates LiveChat, by phone, or at local Emirates offices.
