SHARJAH: The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is making waves at the Arabian Travel Market 2025, showcasing Sharjah’s growing reputation in cultural tourism. The Sharjah Museums showcase highlights how museums in the emirate are hubs for arts, education, and innovation across the region and beyond.

As part of the event, SMA has unveiled “A Journey Through Time,” a special exhibition exploring Sharjah’s historical role as a crossroads of civilisation. Among the standout exhibits are a rare Ottoman Qur’an manuscript by Ahmad Qara Hisari, a seascape painting of Khorfakkan by Emirati artist Abdulqader Al Rais, and ancient artefacts like traditional pearl diving tools and a gold horse bridle from Mleiha.

Supporting its digital transformation, SMA officially launched its new mobile app at the show. The app offers visitors seamless access to museum collections, events, and advanced ticket bookings, boosting Sharjah’s profile as a leading cultural destination.

The Sharjah Museums showcase also highlights its network of 16 museums spread across Sharjah city, Khorfakkan, and Kalba, covering everything from Islamic arts and archaeology to sciences and marine life.

Special attention is being given this year to the new Museum of Education at Al Qasimia School, adding rich educational history to SMA’s offerings. Visitors are also invited to explore a packed calendar of exhibitions, workshops, and community initiatives designed to make learning interactive and inclusive.

In an engaging twist, SMA is distributing a special interactive workshop box at ATM 2025, allowing visitors to experience hands-on learning activities.

Crowning their participation, SMA announced that all museums will offer free entry on May 18 to celebrate International Museum Day, reinforcing Sharjah’s vision of making culture accessible to everyone.
