ABU DHABI: The Liwa International Festival 2025 will kick off tomorrow at the Moreeb Dune arena with its signature Free Style Car Show.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, the 23-day festival promises adventure, motorsports, and cultural celebrations. Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Liwa Sports Club, the event aims to highlight Al Dhafra as a prime tourism and sports destination.
The Free Style Car Show, which runs for two days from 6:00 pm to midnight, will feature over 130 cars showcasing daring moves like “Al-Okda,” “Al-Khaba,” and controlled drifts. Visitors can expect high-octane performances that display extraordinary driving skills.
According to Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Chairman of the Liwa Sports Club, “The Free Style Show is the perfect start to the Liwa International Festival, highlighting Moreeb Dune as a unique sports and tourism icon that attracts thousands of participants and visitors from around the world each year.” He emphasised that the support of UAE leadership, particularly H.H. Sheikh Hamdan, has turned the festival into a world-class platform for culture and tourism.
The Liwa International Festival 2025 will run from December 13, 2024, to January 4, 2025, featuring an extensive line-up of competitions. Key highlights include the Moreeb Dune Climb, car and bike races, camel racing, falconry, and traditional Emirati sports. The Moreeb Dune Climb, known as the festival’s grand finale, is one of the most anticipated motorsport events in the region.
