Harrods in London debuts first Emirati childrenswear brand, Shatha Essa Kids

DUBAI: With support from Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, Emirati designer Shatha Essa has launched her new children’s wear brand, Shatha Essa Kids Collection, at Harrods in London. This marks a significant milestone as the first Emirati brand to feature its products at the renowned store, aligning with Dubai Culture’s commitment to promoting local talent on a global stage.

Shatha Essa’s brand occupies a dedicated section on the fourth floor of Harrods, known for luxury brands. Her collections, inspired by fairytales and dreams, showcase whimsical designs crafted for children. Shatha personally designed the space to evoke a festive atmosphere, akin to a birthday party where children can role-play and dress dolls in outfits similar to those available for themselves. An interactive theatre within the space features illustrations of the dresses in various scenarios, encouraging children to engage and play together in this imaginative setting.

Khulood Khoory, Director of the Projects & Events Department at Dubai Culture, emphasized the authority’s commitment to nurturing creatives and enhancing their skills. She highlighted the innovative spirit of Emirati designers and their contributions to promoting Emirati cultural identity and strengthening Dubai’s design sector.

Shatha Essa, Founder & Creative Director of Shatha Essa – Kids, expressed gratitude for Dubai Culture’s support, describing the opportunity to showcase her brand at Harrods as a milestone not only for her label but also for representing her inspiration and Dubai. She emphasized that all pieces are designed and produced locally in Dubai, showcasing the city’s growing fashion industry.

Shatha Essa Kids’ collection, inspired by her daughters Hessa and Hind, captures joy and elegance through voluminous dresses, elegant outerwear, and exquisite accessories crafted with shimmering sequins and delicate details.

This initiative not only elevates Shatha Essa’s career but also highlights the potential of young Emirati talent on an international platform, reinforcing Dubai’s role as a hub for creativity and innovation in fashion.
