Lilo Stitch MENA release becomes the region’s highest-grossing film of 2025 and top Disney dubbed title to date.
MENA: Lilo & Stitch has officially surfed its way into the record books as MENA’s highest-grossing film of 2025. Since its May release, the Disney live-action remake has charmed audiences across the region with its emotional depth and comedic flair. The film now ranks as the third highest-grossing Disney live-action film ever in MENA, and seventh among all Disney films released theatrically in the region.
A significant milestone for Disney, Lilo & Stitch is also the most successful dubbed title ever released in MENA cinemas. Available in Arabic and English across key markets including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, and Iraq, the dual-language strategy has been met with immense success, expanding the film’s reach and appeal.
Directed by Oscar®-nominated filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp, this live-action adaptation stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo, with a supporting cast that includes Zach Galifianakis, Hannah Waddingham, and Courtney B. Vance. The film reimagines the 2002 animated classic, telling the heartwarming tale of a lonely Hawaiian girl and an alien fugitive who becomes her unlikely family.
Much of the film’s success is driven by Stitch himself — a beloved Disney icon with strong brand recognition. Since his original appearance, Stitch has developed a cult following, bolstered by dedicated merchandise found across major MENA malls and Disney Stores in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City, and Doha. With themed products across fashion, home, toys, and FMCG, Stitch has also made live appearances in malls, generating further buzz since the film’s release.
The Walt Disney Company has more to come. Upcoming releases in the region include Elio with an Egyptian dub, Freakier Friday, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, TRON: Ares, Zootropolis 2, and Avatar: Fire and Ash — continuing its tradition of blockbuster entertainment in MENA.
For now, Disney’s Lilo & Stitch continues its triumphant theatrical run, winning hearts and box office numbers alike.
