Kajol in MAA redefines horror with divine vengeance, powerful visuals, and mythological themes. Releasing 27 June 2025 in cinemas.

This June, witness a haunting collision of myth, horror, and feminine fury with Kajol in MAA, a cinematic spectacle that rewrites genre boundaries. Slated for theatrical release on 27 June 2025, the film is presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande, with co-production by Kumar Mangat Pathak.

Directed by Vishal Furia of Chhorii fame, MAA is the latest addition to the World of Shaitaan cinematic universe. This chapter introduces Devika, a grieving mother whose sorrow transforms into divine wrath as she confronts ancient forces of betrayal, black magic, and forgotten rituals. Kajol delivers a performance unlike any in her career, channelling the fierce energy of Maa Kali in a tale soaked in spiritual symbolism.

MAA is not just about fear, it’s about strength born from it. Playing Devika shook me to my core,” Kajol shared.

The music of MAA adds to its mystic power:

  • Kali Shakti marks Usha Uthup’s thunderous return with a track that has become an anthem of divine feminine rage.
  • Humnava Mere, sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Jubin Nautiyal, tugs at the heartstrings as a ballad of mother-daughter love amidst chaos.

Visually, MAA is a hypnotic blend of sacred temples, surreal landscapes, and glowing ritual flames. VFX, sacred iconography, and chant-heavy soundscapes build an atmosphere that’s both primal and poetic. Every scene is steeped in spiritual warfare and emotion.

Building on the success of Shaitaan (2024), this film expands the horror universe into ancient mythology, exploring how evil is not only modern but deeply rooted in forgotten truths. As Devika rises, audiences are reminded that faith, when pushed to the edge, can become a weapon.

Phars Film will release MAA in theatres across the Middle East on 27 June 2025.
