DUBAI: H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, awarded British content creator Simon Squibb the prestigious ‘One Billion Award’ during the 1 Billion Followers Summit. The award, valued at US$1 million, recognises impactful content creators inspiring positive social change.
Held from January 11 to 13, the summit united over 15,000 creators, influencers, and industry leaders under the theme ‘Content for Good.’ Organised by the UAE Government Media Office, events spanned iconic Dubai venues like Emirates Towers, DIFC, and the Museum of the Future.
H.H. Sheikha Latifa highlighted the UAE’s commitment to empowering creators, driven by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision. She emphasised the transformative power of meaningful content, encouraging creators to inspire global audiences with innovative ideas.
Simon Squibb, a British entrepreneur and motivational speaker with nine million digital followers, earned the award for empowering individuals to achieve dreams and tackle global challenges. From founding his first business at 15 to launching ‘HelpBnk,’ a free advice platform, Squibb embodies resilience and innovation.
The judging panel, including global influencers like Ahmed ElGhandour and Prajakta Koli, selected Squibb from over 16,000 submissions across 190 countries. Entrants had to showcase originality, align with ethical standards, and deliver meaningful social impact.
Sheikha Latifa praised the summit for advancing the digital landscape and creative economy, reinforcing Dubai’s role as a hub for innovation. Ministers Mohammad Al Gergawi and Maryam AlHammadi also attended, underscoring the event’s prominence.
