SHARJAH: The Xposure International Photography Festival returns for its 9th edition from February 20 to 26, 2025, promising its most expansive showcase yet.
This year, the festival moves to a sprawling 49,000 sqm venue in Aljada, marking a new chapter in its journey. Organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), it will feature 349 creative events, 84 hours of programming, and over 3,100 images across 98 exhibitions. Attendees can immerse themselves in themes like conservation, culture, and human emotions within cutting-edge galleries.
Bringing together over 400 visual artists, photographers, and storytellers from 49 countries, Xposure promises an unparalleled experience. Highlights include the 3rd Conservation Summit, a film programme with 58 screenings, and engaging activities like live demonstrations, book signings, and guided tours.
Participants can also enhance their skills through 72 workshops and 50 talks by industry leaders, including Adobe Labs and 53 portfolio reviews. These sessions cater to professionals and enthusiasts alike, offering a deep dive into visual storytelling.
The festival’s relocation to Aljada, in collaboration with Arada, reflects Sharjah’s commitment to fostering art and culture. Tariq Saeed Allay, SGMB’s Director-General, stated, “The ninth and largest edition of Xposure reinforces Sharjah’s position as a hub for visual storytelling, fostering innovation and supporting sustainable development.”
Key attractions include the Xposure International Awards, featuring categories like Wildlife, Portraiture, and Macro Photography, with a US$60,000 prize pool. The Independent Freelance Photojournalist Award offers a US$15,000 prize, while the Xposure International Film Awards will celebrate excellence in Short Film, Documentary, and Animation.
Additionally, the Global Focus Project Nomination Programme will honour exceptional male and female photographers from each continent, recognising their contribution to the field.
