MADINAH: The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Prophet’s Mosque is working hard to manage the current rainy conditions in Madinah. The team at Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah is prepared for rain and is fully mobilized, using both people and equipment to handle the situation.

In response to the rainfall, the presidency has taken several steps. Carpets in exposed areas have been removed, and rainwater has been cleared using machines and manual labor. They’ve also organized the pathways in the courtyards and set up umbrellas for worshippers and visitors to ensure their safety.

The Prophet’s Mosque, or Masjid al-Nabawi, in Madinah was originally built by Prophet Muhammad in 622 AD, shortly after his migration from Mecca. The initial structure was modest, featuring palm-trunk columns and a thatched roof. Over time, it was expanded to accommodate the growing Muslim community. Under the Prophet’s guidance, the mosque served as a place for prayer, teaching, and community gatherings.

Following the Prophet’s death in 632 AD, the mosque underwent several expansions and renovations under successive caliphs and rulers. The Umayyad and Abbasid caliphates, along with the Ottoman Empire, made significant enhancements to its structure and design. In the modern era, the Saudi Arabian government has overseen major expansions to accommodate millions of visitors each year. Today, the mosque is the second holiest site in Islam and houses the Prophet’s tomb, making it a central spiritual destination for Muslims worldwide.

The mosque is not only a spiritual center but also a symbol of Islamic heritage and architecture. The General Presidency’s efforts to maintain and improve the mosque’s facilities ensure that visitors can experience its significance and sacredness in comfort, even during challenging weather conditions.
