Dubai Opera announces exciting 2024-2025 Season: A blend of Opera, Ballet, and more

This exciting line-up covers a wide range of genres, from classical ballet and symphonic concerts to international rock, folk, and contemporary musicals, solidifying Dubai Opera as the top performing arts venue in the UAE.
After an impressive 2023-24 season, which saw a record attendance of over 250,000 guests, Dubai Opera is gearing up for its eighth year with an extravagant gala. The Polish National Opera and Ballet will headline the opening week from 13 to 21 September, bringing their renowned opera, ballet, and symphonic performances to Dubai. Audiences can expect a series of unforgettable shows, many of which will be making their debut in the UAE.
The upcoming season is made possible through strong partnerships with Dubai Culture and Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE). Their continued support has helped elevate the cultural scene in Dubai by attracting world-class performances. Suhaila Ghubash, Vice President of DFRE, emphasised the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in Dubai’s cultural growth. She added that this partnership aligns with the city’s strategic vision, as outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to make Dubai a leading global destination for business, leisure, and culture.
Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of Arts and Literature at Dubai Culture, also highlighted the crucial role of the arts in shaping Dubai’s creative landscape. He said that the new season at Dubai Opera will showcase the city’s rich cultural diversity and act as a platform for emerging talent to shine. Dubai Culture’s partnership with Dubai Opera aims to create an environment that nurtures creativity and helps artists grow.
Paolo Petrocelli, Head of Dubai Opera, expressed excitement about the new season, calling it “inclusive” and filled with something for everyone. After a record-breaking previous season, Dubai Opera is once again ready to offer a wide range of performances, spanning genres like opera, ballet, jazz, musicals, rock, and more. According to Petrocelli, the 2024-2025 season will explore performing arts as a crossroads of cultures and sounds, with a focus on creating unforgettable experiences for all audiences.
In addition to its stellar line-up of performances, Dubai Opera has announced a new partnership with American Express Middle East. As the official payments partner, American Express will offer its card members exclusive access to select performances over the next two seasons. The 2024-2025 season promises a variety of standout performances. During the opening week, three major productions by the Polish National Opera and Ballet will take the stage. This includes Aida, a grand tale of love and betrayal set in ancient Egypt, running from 13 to 15 September. The classic ballet Giselle, a hauntingly beautiful story of love and loss, will be performed from 18 to 21 September. Finally, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony will be performed on 22 September, celebrating 200 years since its premiere.
Other notable events include Eugene Onegin, Tchaikovsky’s operatic masterpiece, which will make its UAE debut in September, and a variety of concerts and musical performances spanning genres and styles. From rock legends like Glenn Hughes performing Deep Purple classics to the soothing symphonies of Beethoven, audiences can expect a season filled with diverse and captivating shows.

For ballet lovers, highlights include The Nutcracker in December and La Bayadere in February. The world-renowned ballerina Svetlana Zakharova will grace the stage in January for a special performance of Modanse, while tango enthusiasts can look forward to Tango After Dark in April.
