CERT, IIT Madras forge partnership to drive global innovation
Fri 06 Sep 2024ABU DHABI: The Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT) and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing innovation, entrepreneurship, and research. This partnership will drive the growth of a global start-up ecosystem and deliver world-class academic programmes that enhance employability and entrepreneurship.
Both institutions, known for their academic and research excellence, will collaborate to boost educational opportunities and international research efforts. The MoU focuses on supporting the start-up ecosystem by improving access to global markets, funding, and industry networks. It will also develop joint academic programmes, including dual degrees and training courses aligned with industry trends.
Key objectives include cooperation in intellectual property, technology transfer, and the establishment of advanced innovation centres. Joint research projects, international funding, and research publications are also priorities, with plans for faculty and student exchanges, workshops, and skill enhancement.
Mohammed Gheyath, CEO of CERT, highlighted the MoU as a step towards expanding international partnerships. Prof. Raghunathan Rengaswamy of IIT Madras and Madhav Narayan, CEO of IITM Global, emphasised the collaboration’s potential to strengthen the start-up ecosystem, research, and employability, particularly in the UAE.

This partnership reflects a shared vision for the future of education and research, leveraging both institutions’ expertise to drive global impact. IITM Global will oversee the implementation of the MoU’s goals, benefiting academic and research communities worldwide.
