Sharjah: The American University of Sharjah (AUS) celebrated the accomplishments of 753 graduating students during its Spring 2024 commencement ceremonies on June 8. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the President of AUS, conferred degrees upon both graduate and undergraduate students in morning and afternoon sessions held at University City Hall in Sharjah, acknowledging their dedication to their education over the years.
Addressing the assembled graduates, Sheikha Bodour emphasized the significance of moral character alongside academic and material success. She highlighted the importance of every individual’s actions in shaping the future world, stressing the value of integrity and courage in doing what is right, even in challenging circumstances.

Dr. Tod A. Laursen, the Chancellor of AUS, extended congratulations to the graduating cohort, commending their perseverance and achievements. During the ceremony, Sheikha Bodour presented awards to outstanding students. Fatima Rashid Bintaliah, a finance major, received the President’s Cup for achieving the highest-grade point average, while Jawwad Imran Sheikh, a mechanical engineering major, was honored with the Chancellor’s Cup for demonstrating exceptional academic excellence, character, and service to the university.
The ceremony marked not only the culmination of the graduates’ academic journey but also the beginning of their contributions to society. Sheikha Bodour expressed her anticipation of witnessing their positive impact on the world, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence and upholding values of integrity and righteousness in their future endeavors.
