ABU DHABI: The UAE Muay Thai Open Championship started today in Abu Dhabi and will run until 11th August 2024 at the Space 42 Arena in Al Raha Beach.
This exciting event is organised by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation and has brought together 551 fighters from 47 national clubs. On the first day, the preliminary rounds were packed with action, with 160 matches taking place across three rings.

The championship includes both male and female fighters, aged 8 to 23, who are competing in 12 different weight categories. The competition will continue on 10th August, with the finals set for 11th August, where the best fighters will battle it out for the top spots.
Muay Thai is a type of martial art from Thailand, often called “Thai boxing.” It’s known for its powerful strikes using fists, elbows, knees, and legs. Unlike regular boxing, where you only use your fists, Muay Thai lets fighters use almost their whole body, making it a very dynamic and tough sport.
In the UAE, Muay Thai has become quite popular, with many people practising it for fitness, self-defence, and competition. The UAE Muay Thai Championship is a big event where fighters from different clubs compete to show their skills and see who’s the best.
