Namibia clinches UAE Netball Cup 2025 in Dubai, beating Singapore. The tournament boosts women’s sport and netball in the region.
Dubai: Namibia triumphed at the inaugural UAE Netball Cup 2025, securing a thrilling 62–53 win over Singapore in the final held at Al Nasr Sports Hall, Dubai. The historic event, sanctioned by World Netball, marks a milestone moment for the sport in the Middle East and signals Dubai’s growing prominence in hosting elite women’s tournaments.
The week-long competition, supported by Dubai Holding Community Management, welcomed six international teams ranked between 18th and 30th in global standings: Ireland, Singapore, Namibia, Kenya, the UAE, and the United States. The tournament format allowed for competitive play across levels, and Namibia’s consistent form ultimately saw them lift the championship trophy.
Kenya finished third after a 46–37 victory over Ireland, while the UAE Falcons delivered an impressive performance in their final fixture, defeating the United States 65–48 to claim fifth place. The Falcons, fielding a mix of experienced players and young talent from the UAE’s U17 and U21 programmes, impressed fans and officials alike, showcasing the depth of local development in women’s sport.
The UAE Netball Cup represents a turning point for netball in the region. With packed stands and international excitement, the tournament has placed the UAE firmly on the map as a host for competitive global netball events.
The awards ceremony, attended by dignitaries from the Dubai Sports Council and the UAE Netball Federation, reflected the prestige of the event. His Excellency Saeed Harib and Francis Jiani were among those applauding the players’ achievements and the event’s broader impact.
