DUBAI: Imperial Emperor secured a spot in the prestigious Dubai World Cup (G1) with a dominant win in the Al Maktoum Classic (G2) on Super Saturday, 1st March, at Meydan Racecourse.
This victory marked a significant achievement for trainer Bhupat Seemar, who now has three contenders for the Dubai World Cup.
Jockey Tadhg O’Shea placed Imperial Emperor perfectly on the outside of the leaders, positioning him well to make his move in the final stretch. After leading into the final turn, Imperial Emperor powered ahead, winning by a convincing eight and a half lengths. He finished ahead of his stablemate Artorius and Global Hit, a Korean contender who ran an impressive race from the front.
“This is a dream come true. I can’t believe we’re in the Dubai World Cup!” said O’Shea. He added, “This horse is improving. I’ve ridden him three times, and I’ve won all three. That was probably the best performance of his career. It was a fair race, and he showed his true potential. He’s very, very reliable.”
Super Saturday is a key event that acts as a qualifier for the Dubai World Cup, which will take place on 5th April. This win not only boosted Imperial Emperor’s chances but also highlighted his rising form as a strong contender for the big race.
