FUJAIRAH: The 2nd Fujairah Mountain Shooting Championship (FMSC), taking place from 1 to 8 February 2025 in Dibba, Fujairah, is championing sustainability with a groundbreaking initiative. Organisers have announced that the event will exclusively use 100% natural eco ammunition, biodegradable wads, and eco-friendly Vivas clay targets to minimise environmental impact while maintaining high standards of competition.

The championship, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, aims to balance tradition with innovation. The event celebrates the region’s rich hunting heritage while setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible sports. Over 400 participants from 37 countries are expected to compete in both preliminary rounds (1–4 February) and the main championship (5–8 February), along with exciting side events such as English Sporting and Pool Shoots.

Saif Al Zahmi, Director of FMSC, stated, “This championship reflects our commitment to sustainability and tradition. By using eco-friendly ammunition, we not only honour the heritage of hunting but also ensure the preservation of the environment for future generations.”

Supported by key partners, including NSCA, CPSA, and Fujairah-based organisations, the event is poised to make a significant impact. With its innovative approach to natural ammunition, the championship serves as a model for integrating heritage with sustainability, offering participants and spectators an exhilarating yet environmentally mindful experience.

Fujairah Mountain Shooting Championship to have natural ammunition Eley Hawk

Here’s how Eley Hawk’s eco ammunition works:

Water-soluble and compostable: The wad, a key component of the cartridge, completely dissolves in water within 24 hours, making it ideal for activities near water bodies.

Organic and safe: Made entirely from organic materials, the wad is harmless to the environment.

Quick to degrade: In normal climates, it decomposes in just 30 days and breaks down fully into the soil within three months, leaving no trace behind.

Plastic-free: The ammunition is entirely free of plastic, eliminating long-term pollution caused by traditional cartridges.

Eco ammunition like this allows shooters to enjoy their sport responsibly, ensuring minimal environmental impact while maintaining high performance. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to combine tradition with sustainable practices, particularly for events that emphasise environmental preservation.
