DUBAI: The 2024 Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) saw a record-breaking 2,735,158 participants, a 14% increase from last year. Running from October 26 to November 24, this annual initiative led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, urged residents and visitors to commit to 30 minutes of daily exercise for 30 days.
DFC 2024 featured three Fitness Villages and 25 community hubs, offering free classes, sports activities, and family-friendly events. Over 467,000 visitors enjoyed venues like Kite Beach, Zabeel Park, and Al Warqa’a Park. Community hubs provided additional activities, with over 60,000 participants benefiting from free workouts.
The initiative’s standout events, including Dubai Ride and Dubai Run, continued to captivate fitness enthusiasts. Dubai Ride, presented by DP World, saw a record 37,130 cyclists participate across routes on Sheikh Zayed Road. Meanwhile, Dubai Run welcomed 278,000 runners, making it the largest community run in the region. Notable highlights included a surprise appearance by singer Jason Derulo and breathtaking aerial performances.
An aquatic adventure at Hatta Dam marked the second edition of Dubai Stand-Up Paddle (SUP), featuring paddle-boarding, kayaking, and yoga. With 2,330 participants, the event doubled its previous turnout.
This year, technology played a key role, with interactive maps and collaborations with fitness apps like Whoop and Fitze, helping participants track activities and navigate events with ease.
Since its 2017 inception, DFC has drawn over 13 million participants, fostering healthier lifestyles and boosting community spirit. His Excellency Saeed Hareb of Dubai Sports Council praised the initiative’s impact, highlighting its role in promoting long-term fitness habits.
DFC 2025 will return from November 1 to 30, promising more exciting opportunities to embrace fitness and well-being.
