ZURICH: FIFA has set the prize money for the upcoming 32-team Club World Cup at a massive $1 billion, as the tournament gears up for its first expanded edition in the United States from June 14 to July 13.

With the competition expected to generate $2 billion in revenue, FIFA has assured that its financial reserves will remain intact. FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that part of the earnings will also be allocated to support club football worldwide.

The expanded format marks a significant shift for the Club World Cup, which previously featured just seven teams. The new structure will see top clubs from Europe, South America, Africa, Asia, and beyond competing for the prestigious title, increasing global viewership and commercial interest.

Infantino has emphasised FIFA’s commitment to developing club football across all regions, ensuring that a share of the revenue supports domestic leagues and emerging teams. The financial boost is expected to bring greater parity to global club football, giving more teams access to top-level competition and funding.

With record-breaking prize money and heightened stakes, the 2025 Club World Cup is shaping up to be the most lucrative and competitive edition yet, as the world’s best clubs battle for glory.
