DUBAI: The 11th edition of the Camel Trek UAE is currently underway, with 33 participants from 17 countries taking part in a 13-day journey across the vast deserts of the UAE. The trek began on December 9 from the heart of the Empty Quarter desert, and the participants are now crossing the shifting sands of the Western Desert, headed towards the Heritage Village at Global Village for the grand finale on December 21.
Under the leadership of Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmouk, CEO of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, the trek has received vital support from national partners like Dubai Ambulance, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, Dubai Police, and Abu Dhabi Police. Bin Dalmouk emphasized the importance of collaboration in preserving the UAE’s heritage.
“We are incredibly grateful to all our national partners,” he said, acknowledging the efforts that have made this trek possible. “This Camel Trek UAE is a product of shared vision, a partnership that reflects our dedication to preserving our heritage and inspiring future generations.”
The trek is progressing smoothly, covering 45 to 50 kilometers each day despite initial challenges like sandstorms. Participants are not only testing their endurance but also immersing themselves in the desert’s rich history.
Amina Abdullah Al Naqbi, Training Coordinator at the Sharjah Museums Authority, expressed her excitement for the journey: “Every step feels like we’re walking through history.” For Ivan Kovalenko, a Russian participant, the experience has been an eye-opener: “It’s a test of patience, strength, and endurance, while learning about Emirati traditions and hospitality.”
The Camel Trek UAE is more than just an endurance challenge—it’s a celebration of the culture, history, and unity that make the UAE unique.
