NELLORE, INDIA: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh on Friday, as reported by agencies.
ISRO announced on X that the third developmental flight of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) successfully placed EOS-08 into orbit. This marks the completion of ISRO’s SSLV Development Project. With this success, Indian industry and NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) will now produce SSLVs for commercial missions.
The six-and-a-half-hour countdown for the launch began at 02:47 local time. This was the final developmental flight for the SSLV-D3/EOS-08 mission, with the spacecraft designed to operate for one year.
The EOS-08 mission aimed to develop a microsatellite and create payload instruments compatible with it, as well as to incorporate new technologies for future satellites.

The EOS-08 also introduced advanced satellite systems, including an Integrated Avionics system called the Communication, Baseband, Storage, and Positioning (CBSP) Package. This system combines multiple functions into one unit, supporting up to 400 GB of data storage using commercial components.
