INDORE, MP: Students of IIT-Indore, one of the premier engineering institutes in India, has developed an innovative system that combines drones with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to inspect and detect problems in hard-to-reach places. This advanced system uses AI and ML to identify and analyze cracks and other anomalies in structures like buildings, roads, and high-tension wires in real time.
Traditional inspection methods often struggle with accurately detecting these issues, particularly in complex or inaccessible areas. The new system effectively addresses these challenges.
The technology is particularly valuable for inspecting extensive road networks, gas pipelines, and power lines. It also holds potential for maintenance, surveillance, defense, and space exploration applications.
The system boasts an impressive 98.7% accuracy rate in detecting and classifying cracks, processing data in just 25 milliseconds thanks to cutting-edge AI technology. This high-speed performance ensures the safety and longevity of critical infrastructure.
The drones used in this system are equipped with advanced cameras and LiDAR sensors, providing detailed information about detected anomalies. A key feature is the system’s ability to process data directly on the drone, allowing for real-time decision-making. The drone’s design is optimized to save space and energy, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
