RTA enhances Umm Suqeim Street for efficient school transport
Wed 04 Sep 2024DUBAI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has improved traffic on Umm Suqeim Street by opening a new 500-metre street leading to Kings’ School. This street, with two lanes in each direction, connects the school’s entrances to a recently built detour, reducing traffic congestion by up to 40% during peak hours.
These enhancements are part of RTA’s 2024 traffic improvement plan, aimed at improving road networks, easing traffic flow, and increasing road capacity to support Dubai’s growth. The Umm Suqeim Street Improvement Project, which spans 4.6 km, boosts connectivity between key roads like Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, increasing the street’s capacity by 30% to handle 16,000 vehicles per hour.
