DUBAI: Dubai’s daily commuters have a new reason to ditch the drive and save on transport. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially launched a regulated bus pooling service in Dubai, offering a safer, greener and more affordable door-to-door option for residents with fixed daily routes.
This new public initiative takes a familiar concept — carpooling — and elevates it by introducing licensed service providers under the RTA’s supervision. Commuters travelling regularly to work, university or other set destinations can now enjoy a smart, scheduled ride without the stress of parking, fuel costs, or unreliable drivers.
The bus pooling service in Dubai is available across the city, making it accessible for individuals from various neighbourhoods. The service can be booked via three mobile apps: DrivenBus, Fluxx Daily, and Citylink Dubai. All participating vehicles are RTA-approved and managed by licensed operators, ensuring high standards of safety, punctuality and service.
Aside from convenience, this new service is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and lowering carbon emissions. By decreasing the number of single-passenger vehicles on the roads, the initiative contributes to the emirate’s long-term sustainability goals and supports a cleaner urban environment.
In addition to bus pooling, RTA has also begun testing an electric bus along route F13, connecting Al Quoz Bus Depot to Dubai Mall Metro Bus Stop. This eco-friendly trial is part of a broader effort to make public transport more sustainable and technologically advanced.
