Washington: Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, revealed on Monday that the billions of people who use WhatsApp can now edit a message within 15 minutes of sending it.

Users only need to long-press on a message that has already been delivered and select “Edit” from the menu for up to 15 minutes later.

The messaging service, which is owned by Meta Platforms Inc., stated in a blog post on Monday, “For the moments when you make a mistake or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages on WhatsApp.”

This will enable individuals to fix a straightforward typo and enhance a message’s context.

According to WhatsApp, edited messages will see the word “edited” next to them so that the people you are texting are aware of the modification without seeing the edit history.

Senders will be able to edit their messages within 15 minutes of pressing send thanks to a feature that will be made available globally in the coming weeks.

The feature can be accessed by holding down the message for a long time and selecting “edit” from the drop-down menu. The label “edited” will appear next to the amended message but the edit history won’t be visible.
