83% of Sharjah taxis now use hybrid technology, making them eco-friendly choices

SHARJAH: Sharjah Taxi has recently announced a significant milestone, with 83% of its current fleet now consisting of hybrid and eco-friendly vehicles that operate on both traditional fuel and electricity. This move is part of Sharjah Taxi’s ambitious goal to convert its entire fleet to eco-friendly vehicles by the year 2027, aligning closely with the UAE’s broader efforts towards sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.

Khalid Al-Kindi, the General Manager of Sharjah Taxi, expressed the company’s dedication to sustainable development, emphasizing ongoing efforts to modernize and expand their fleet. By integrating electric and hybrid vehicles into their operations, Sharjah Taxi aims to provide environmentally friendly transportation alternatives while supporting sustainable transport solutions across the emirate.

In addition to enhancing its environmental footprint, Sharjah Taxi continues to uphold its commitment to delivering comprehensive services to the community. These services include city taxis, airport transfers, specialized taxis for women and families, luxury limousines, school transportation (known as Rafaq), services tailored for People with Determination, and taxis serving the Eastern and Central regions of Sharjah.

Operating under the auspices of Sharjah Asset Management, the investment entity of the Government of Sharjah, Sharjah Taxi plays a pivotal role in the emirate’s transportation sector. Through its ongoing fleet upgrades and commitment to sustainability, Sharjah Taxi not only strives to meet current environmental standards but also sets a precedent for future-oriented transportation solutions in the UAE.
