DUBAI: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, met today with Mark Thompson, Chairman and CEO of CNN Worldwide, at Emirates Towers. During their discussion, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted Dubai’s long-standing partnership with CNN, established over 20 years ago when the media company chose Dubai as its regional headquarters. This partnership reflects Dubai’s commitment to becoming a global media hub.

Sheikh Hamdan approves ‘Dubai Research, Development & Innovation Grant Initiative’

Sheikh Hamdan emphasised Dubai’s ongoing efforts to foster the growth of local and international media. The city has positioned itself as an international leader in media innovation, providing cutting-edge infrastructure and an ideal environment for new technologies and industry developments. Dubai’s media ecosystem continues to attract major companies, helping them grow and innovate.

“Dubai has demonstrated how opportunities can be turned into remarkable achievements,” Sheikh Hamdan said. “With our focus on innovation and sustainable development, we are confident that Dubai will continue to lead in diverse sectors, including media.”

He also mentioned the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, who has been instrumental in driving Dubai’s forward-thinking development strategy. Sheikh Hamdan stressed the importance of the media sector in Dubai’s sustainable growth and future progress.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan reaffirmed Dubai’s dedication to supporting media companies by facilitating their operations and enabling their growth. He underscored the strategic advantages Dubai offers, including its dynamic media ecosystem, advanced infrastructure, and a favourable environment for innovation.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, along with media representatives from CNN.
