DUBAI: Saffron processing in Dubai is set for a major boost as Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) partners with Haldiram’s, one of India’s leading food brands, to launch a state-of-the-art saffron facility in the GCC.
Signed during Gulfood 2025, the agreement will see Kesar Expert & Packers, an experienced Indian saffron processor, manage operations at the Jafza-based facility, which is expected to go live by March 2025. The plant will also obtain European BRCGS certification, ensuring top-tier quality and purity standards.
The facility will initially process 30 metric tonnes of saffron, with plans to expand capacity to 100 metric tonnes within five years. This growth will be driven by UAE-India CEPA trade benefits and Jafza’s world-class logistics at Jebel Ali Port.
Beyond saffron processing, Haldiram’s and Jafza are exploring further collaborations, including expanding Haldiram’s footprint in Dubai and investing in food processing and distribution facilities.
With over 770 F&B companies, Jafza continues to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global trade hub, supporting innovation and expansion in the food industry.
