SHARJAH: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has launched the Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah, a move aimed at enhancing economic cooperation between Sharjah and Pakistan. This initiative is expected to boost trade and investment, benefiting both regions and contributing to the growth of the private sector.

The launch ceremony, held at SCCI’s headquarters, was attended by key figures, including Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, and Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE. The event also saw participation from prominent members of the business community from both Sharjah and Pakistan.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais emphasized that the new council is a significant addition to the network of business councils under SCCI. It will serve as a platform for companies to collaborate and form partnerships that benefit both regions. The council is part of SCCI’s broader strategy to expand its network of business councils and enhance economic collaboration.

In 2022, non-oil trade between the UAE and Pakistan reached AED25.7 billion, a 30% increase from 2021. This growth reflects the strong commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral relations. The UAE is also planning to invest US$10 billion in Pakistan’s key economic sectors.

The Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah is expected to foster sustainable partnerships, boost trade and investment, and strengthen business ties between the two regions. It will also provide a platform for Pakistani entrepreneurs to engage with Sharjah’s business community, explore new investment opportunities, and promote their businesses across the UAE and beyond.
