DUBAI: DP World has welcomed the first Gemini Cooperation vessel, marking a major milestone in the strategic alliance between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk. The MV Houston Express, a 15,000 TEU containership, docked at Jebel Ali Port on February 5, reinforcing Dubai’s role as a global trade hub.
Part of the Indian Ocean Service, the vessel strengthens trade links between the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, and Europe. The arrival was celebrated with a special reception attended by DP World and Hapag-Lloyd senior executives, highlighting Jebel Ali’s pivotal role in global supply chains.
The Gemini Cooperation is a transformative partnership aimed at creating a highly efficient, reliable ocean freight network spanning seven key trade lanes. It includes 57 mainliner and shuttle services, operating approximately 340 modern vessels, many transitioning to cleaner fuels.
