ABU DHABI: Businesswomen in the UAE are making significant strides in boosting the national economy while bringing innovative solutions to the community as entrepreneurs. Supported by both the government and society, the number of businesswomen and their contributions have grown steadily, positioning the UAE as a leader in women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.
A recent report by the Emirates Businesswomen Council highlights that women now make up 34.6 percent of the workforce in 2024, an increase from 32.5 percent in 2023. Women entrepreneurs constitute 18 percent of all entrepreneurs in the UAE, with most of these businesses (77.6 percent) being led by women under forty, showing their strong impact on the economy.
The report also reveals that 48.8 percent of these women hold executive-director roles, and 61.4 percent own their businesses outright. In the first half of this year alone, over 2,000 new businesses were registered by Emirati businesswomen, making up 22 percent of all new businesses in the UAE.
In the tech and innovation sector, businesswomen have launched a digital platform offering consulting and financing services, leveraging AI to guide women-led projects. Additionally, a new smart app has been developed to assist small and medium-sized businesses with digital marketing and HR management.

Notably, these women are also excelling in renewable energy and environmental sustainability, launching projects like solar energy from rooftops and a startup focused on remote healthcare using virtual reality, with investments reaching AED200 million. A new e-commerce platform connecting local artisans with the global market also reported over AED150 million in its first year.
